A high-speed pursuit involving stolen vehicles concluded in a fatal crash during the early hours of August 24, 2023, on the President George Bush Turnpike in Garland, Texas.

Shortly past midnight, a Rockwall County Deputy en route to a call noticed three vehicles parked on the North Service Road of Interstate 30 near T.L. Townsend in Rockwall. Unusual in nature, the vehicles had their headlights turned off. The Deputy promptly alerted another nearby unit to assist and intercept the situation.

Without warning, the three vehicles – identified as a black Dodge Charger, a black Silverado, and a black Chevrolet Camaro – evaded law enforcement by dispersing in different directions, failing to yield to the Deputy's attempts to establish contact. Activating his emergency lights, the Deputy initiated pursuit.

The pursuit focused on the black Dodge Charger, which accelerated significantly as it headed north on State Highway 205. The Deputy's pursuit persisted through various communities including Wylie and Sachse, until the Charger's ill-fated attempt to access the President George Bush Turnpike in Garland.

In a devastating turn, the driver of the stolen Charger lost control while entering the turnpike, resulting in a collision with a concrete barrier. Both the male and female occupants of the vehicle suffered fatal injuries upon impact. The Garland Police Department was summoned to handle the accident aftermath.

Subsequent investigation brought to light the theft of two of the three involved vehicles. The black Dodge Charger, central to the pursuit and subsequent crash, had been reported stolen from Lewisville, Texas. Conversely, the black Silverado, reported stolen from Rockwall, Texas, was successfully recovered by the Garland Police Department. The third vehicle, a black Chevrolet Camaro, displaying a license plate that didn't match its description, remains missing.
